ABBI introduces European wines in the Wine Days this year

May 21th, 2013

ABBI cluster will introduce a special information hall designed for tasting European wines as well as special educational stands where wine lovers will be able to familiarize themselves with the wine system of the European Union and the wines produced from specific species of grapes in Lithuania during the Wine Days which will take place this Friday and Saturday.

According to Romas Apulskis, the President of ABBI cluster which unites the beverage industry, the companies in the beverage industry are concerned with selling more expensive exceptional-quality products. A consumer who understands wines is necessary for that; therefore, ABBI aims to introduce the system for classification and control of wines applicable in Europe as well as to familiarize consumers with the variety and specifics of European wines.

“This, probably, is the first time in the history of holding the Wine Days when the companies which sell and those which make wine are preparing a joint wine presentation program and work together,” R. Apulskis maintains.

According to the head of the organization, ABBI will present the educational stand of the Wine Academy one of the main goals of which is to present as thorough theoretical information about wines, production thereof, European wine regions and the specifics of the wines produced there to people during the Wine Days. Short seminars will be held for those who wish; specialists will tell the news from the world of wines.

Sparkling wines made of specific grape species in Lithuania will be presented in another stand of the cluster. R. Apulskis hopes that this stand and the presentation of wines performed in it will encourage the Lithuanian producers of wine to focus on the production of wines with higher added value.

The highlight of the presentation of ABBI is a hall designed for tasting European wines in which the wines of different countries and regions will be presented individually. Wine lovers will be able to taste and compare the wines here arranged by countries and regions, not by producers or distributors as often was the case in previous events.

Established in 2009, ABBI cluster unites producers of wine: group of companies “Alita”, UAB (Private Limited Liability Company) “Italiana Lt”, UAB “Boslita ir Ko”, group of wine distributors, Kaunas University of Technology, Sommelier Association and other companies related to the beverage industry. Total annual turnover of the companies of the cluster amounts to approx. 1.5 billion Litas.
